Complete-comprehensive
visit or physical exams:
This is the traditional visit where
we obtain as much data as possible and perform a complete physical exam.
It often lasts about 45 minutes.
Intermediate
or extended visits:
When the visit involves addressing
a number of different problems i.e. different conditions or organ systems,
we refer to it as intermediate type or extensive. It's definitions
depends then mostly on our level of involvement or on time spent.
Limited office visit:
A focused visit dealing
with a specific problem. i.e. a cold, a sprain, arthritis, headaches. this
encounter often takes 10 to 15 minutes to address.
Brief
visit:
Short encounters,
often for immunizations, blood pressure checks with the nursing staff,
etc.
Special
visits:
Visitis dedicated
often to non exam encounters. i.e., record or xray reviews, family
conference,etc.
School,
camp or work Physicals
Pre-operative
consultations:
Often requested
by a surgeon or hospital to obtain "clearance" for a surgical procedure.
Second opinion consultation
