Simon L. Weitzman, MD

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela where and attended medical school at The Central University of Venezuela. Following  graduation in 1971 I moved to Israel where I completed my Internship and a two year Residency in General Internal Medicine.

In 1974, my family and I moved to the United States for a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Dana - Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard Medical School). My activities there included research as well as patient care. Later, while still affiliated with the Farber Center and Brigham & Women's Hospital, I spent two years at the Boston City Hospital in the Medical Oncology department.

Most recently, our group has established a preferential relationship with The Brigham and Women's Hospital for tertiary care while we remain locally affiliated with  Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Needham and The Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton. My wife Rachel and I have two children; we are fluent in Spanish and Hebrew.

 ONCOLOGY SPECIALTY

I am trained and  board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Since 2003 however, I decided to concentrate my practice on general Internal Medicine & while I remain interested in oncology problems,  I decided not to continue with the responsibilities of chemotherapy administration and the overall management of patients with cancer.
